Periodically, usually once in the Spring and once in the Fall, your child along with the rest of their classmates will participate in a fire drill. The drill will take place randomly. This practice needs to be done in case a real school fire was ever to occur. Your child would exit through the front classroom door and exit left out of the classroom. They would then walk straight out the back door and away from the school.
Tornado Drills:
Periodically, usually once a year around tornado season, your child will participate in a tornado drill. The drill will take place randomly. This needs to be done in case a real tornado was to occur during the school day. Your child would exit through the front classroom door and would walk to the East gym.
Bus Safety:
In the Spring your child will participate in a bus safety presentation. All students will enter the bus and a bus driver will inform them of all the rules the children need to follow while they ride the bus to and from school. They will also inform the children of the safety exits in case an emergency situation should occur.
Intruder Alerts:
Periodically, usually once in the Spring and once in the Fall, your child along with the rest of the class will participate in what the school calls an intruder alert. An announcement will be made over the loudspeaker that there is a stranger in the building. Any student who is not in classroom is to report to the nearest classroom immediately. All teachers are to lock their doors, turn off the lights, and move all students to a secure corner of the room where they can not be seen from the door. All students are to remain silent until further directions are given.
